Coaches
Samantha Courtemanche
Samantha Courtemanche
Samantha grew up in Howard County, Maryland and graduated from Centennial High School in 2016, where she also played club lacrosse with M&D Red. She went on to attend Coastal Carolina University from 2016–2021, playing Division I lacrosse as an attacker. During her time at Coastal, she totaled 94 goals, 80 assists, and 174 points, ranking top-10 all-time in the program for goals, assists, and points. She earned bachelor’s degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies and Psychology. After college, Samantha started coaching with HOCO Lacrosse in 2021 and has been the head coach of the 2027 girls team ever since, now heading into their final season together. Outside of lacrosse, she works as a school counselor in Howard County and earned her master’s degree in School Counseling from McDaniel College in 2023.

Coach Helfman is from Harford County, MD where she grew up playing soccer and lacrosse. Angela attended the University of Maryland and played Maryland Club Lacrosse all 4 years. She has enjoyed coaching and cheering for her daughters and their friends in the Howard County Lacrosse program and the HCLP All Star teams for the past 5 years. Before her girls were born she coached for the HCLP Cobra program. Angela lives in Ellicott City with her husband Jon, daughters Andie and Emma, and works as a freelance writer.

Emily D’Orsaneo
Emily D’Orsaneo
We are so excited to welcome Emily D’Orsaneo to our HoCo Girls coaching family as our new Assistant Coach of HoCo 2027 Black. Emily grew up on the Eastern Shore of MD and started playing lacrosse when she was 7 years old. Emily played 4 years of varsity at Queen Anne’s County High School where she served as captain her senior year. She received 3x 1st team all conference honors during her time in high school. Emily then continued her lacrosse career at Coastal Carolina and played there for 5 years. During that time as a defender, she made the ASUN all-freshmen team in 2017, ASUN second team all-conference in 2018, ASUN 1st team all conference 2019, ASUN Preseason All-Conference in 2020, SoCon 1st team all-conference 2021, and SoCon All-Tournament team in 2021. She holds 4 all time records including most ground balls, caused turnovers, games played, and games started.
Emily continued her love for the sport as a coach and was an assistant coach at The College of the Holy Cross for the 2021-2022 season. She decided to go back to school and attended Salisbury University for their nursing program while continuing her coaching career as a Head Coach with M&D Shore 2029 black for 2022-2023. She recently graduated in December of 2023 and is currently working as a nurse in Johns Hopkins Pediatric Emergency Room.
