Trish Marton is a Howard County native and graduate of Mount Hebron High School, where she was a three-sport athlete and earned honors as an All-County field hockey player, All-County and All-Metro lacrosse player, and Mount Hebron Athlete of the Year.
She continued her lacrosse career at The Ohio State University, where she was a four-year starter and helped elevate the Buckeye program during a period of significant growth. Trish played both midfield and defense throughout her collegiate career before establishing herself as a key defensive contributor known for her ability to cause turnovers and impact possession. She remains listed among Ohio State’s career leaders in caused turnovers.
Following college, Trish began her career in both education and coaching, serving as a teacher and varsity head coach in Columbus before eventually returning home to Howard County. While living in Columbus, she was also a founding director of Lucky Lax, a girls lacrosse club that she helped build and lead for 17 years. During that time, she accumulated more than her share of airline points while continuing to keep Maryland as her home base. The program remains active and successful today, and many local players still encounter Lucky Lax teams at tournaments throughout the region.
Between Ohio and Maryland, Trish has coached for more than 20 years. She was the varsity coach at Reservoir High School before taking the head coaching position at her alma mater, Mount Hebron High School. After the birth of her first child, Trish stepped away from the head coaching role but remained involved with the program as a volunteer assistant. She later returned as a varsity assistant, coaching alongside one of her former players—an experience she considers one of the greatest honors of her coaching career. She has also coached high school field hockey and soccer, as well as youth soccer, basketball and lacrosse for her own children.
In addition to her coaching experience, Trish holds a master’s degree in counseling from Loyola College. She has dedicated 23 years to education, working with students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. She currently serves as a school counselor with Howard County Public Schools and was honored as School Counselor of the Year for her commitment to supporting students and families.
Trish lives in Woodbine with her husband Ethan and two children, Everett (10) and Rose (6), and considers it an honor to give back to the game that has given her so much. She is passionate about helping young athletes grow as both players and people. The counselor in her is just as dedicated to the mental side of lacrosse and the developmental needs of each age group as she is to the physical aspects of the game, knowing that the lessons learned through sports stay with players long after the final whistle.
