What is the HoCo Club Lacrosse Program?

HOCO Club Lacrosse is a highly competitive club program that practices and competes throughout the year. The coaches are highly qualified, skilled, and experienced; having played and coached competitively at the youth, high school, college and/or professional level.

HOCO Club Lacrosse is a non-profit, Howard County sponsored program without a profit driven motive. HOCO provides high level coaching, organization, and facilities in exchange for very affordable dues. We have preferred access to the best playing fields in Maryland. HOCO’s signature pink and black uniforms are also unparalleled and highly recognized within the club lacrosse community!

As a non-profit organization, HOCO has a competitive edge. With the exception of purchasing a uniform, our club fees are all inclusive and go directly to operating your individual team. This can vary from age group to age group depending on the number of players, selection of tournaments, schedules, coaches, etc. HOCO club fees for the 2026-27 season are estimated to range between $750 and $3,150.

No, but please be aware that all practices will be held at Howard County Recreation and Parks fields.

During the Winter season, players often attend Strength and Conditioning sessions at CSC. CSC’s goal will be to address and improve each program, designed for the players based on age and experience, through the duration and frequency of the off-season training program; focusing greatly on how to perform exercises with proper form, as well as making sure they are enjoying their training time.

HOCO plays primarily in local tournaments based in Maryland, but some travel is expected. Teams will compete in various locations around Maryland, the Mid-Atlantic and along the East Coast. Generally, the higher the level means the farther we could travel.

No. We ask that you play in both seasons as we participate in Spring League games and Summer is our primary tournament season.

HOCO allows and encourages multiple-sport athletes as we believe it is better for our players’ physical and mental development, increased self-esteem and prevention of player burnout. Attendance at every HOCO tournament and game during the spring season is expected.

However, it is expected that any player who tries out for HOCO Girls and makes a team; meet the teams seasonal player participation and commitment levels. Because HOCO is the highest level of competitive lacrosse offered by HCLP, it puts us in a difficult situation when players accept roster spots and then cannot meet that commitment.

All players are expected to bring a regulation women’s lacrosse stick, mouth guard, and goggles. All goalies are to provide their own equipment.*

*Any youth goalie candidates who need to borrow gear— please contact us no later than a week before tryouts are scheduled.

Teams are organized by school grade and referred to by their graduation year, however; some tournaments have age limitations that may affect team placement.

All HOCO Youth Teams are selected through a two day open tryout process in the early summer (mid June-mid July) depending on age group.

Our High School Teams may offer invite only tryout opportunities instead of hosting open tryouts. This is decided on a age group by age group basis.

Typically if there is sufficient interest for a specific age group, we add a second team. We identify the skill levels as ‘Black’ or ‘Pink,’ with Black as the higher level team.

No, HOCO does not allow this.

Rosters are capped at approximately 20 field players plus 1 or 2 goalies for a maximum of 21 or 22, however; we are looking for an average of 18 players per team. Some high school teams may carry more players due to significant conflicts like players’ jobs, college visits, etc.

HOCO is a “pay to play” non-profit club lacrosse team. This means that since there is no profit being made through the collection of player fees.; we rely on the accurate forecasting, budgeting, and recovering our expenses (per player/team). These fees are extended to us in advance by HCLP so that we may register timely for, and participate in, the best tournaments/leagues/events netting our girls maximum exposure to college coaches and recruitment. The entire amount of the player’s team fees, regardless of participation, apply to every player that accepts a position on a HOCO team.
